Question 1

What is Venelx?

Accepted Answer

Venelx is a CI/CD platform for Expo and React Native apps. Connect your Git repository, configure iOS and Android build pipelines, store artifacts, publish OTA updates, and manage teams — with flat monthly pricing instead of credit-based billing.

Question 2

What are the pricing plans?

Accepted Answer

Three tiers: Free ($0/month) includes 30 builds per month, up to 3 projects, 3 GB storage, and 1 concurrent build. Pro ($49/month) includes 500 builds per month, up to 25 projects, 30 GB storage, 2 concurrent builds, and Slack/Discord alerts. Enterprise is custom — contact support@venelx.com for higher limits, dedicated infrastructure, and priority support.

Question 3

How does billing work?

Accepted Answer

Pro subscriptions are processed through Lemon Squeezy. Upgrade from your account billing page, manage payment methods in the Lemon Squeezy customer portal, and track build minutes, projects, and storage usage in the dashboard.

Question 4

Can I run builds on my own hardware?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Pro users can register self-hosted workers on Mac, Linux, or Windows — install with one command, then pair the worker to your account by clicking a link (no tokens to copy or paste). The worker auto-updates itself in place, with automatic rollback if an update fails its health check, so it keeps running unattended. Builds route to your hardware while Venelx handles orchestration, logs, and artifact storage in the cloud.

Question 5

Is self-hosting a Venelx worker secure?

Accepted Answer

The worker only makes outbound connections to Venelx — it never opens an inbound port, so there's nothing to expose on your network or firewall to configure. Credentials and build configuration live in your Venelx project, not on the worker machine's disk in plaintext.

Question 6

Can AI assistants like Claude or Cursor control my Venelx builds?

Accepted Answer

Yes, via the Venelx MCP server (`npx @venelx/mcp`). Any MCP-compatible AI assistant can list your projects, trigger builds, tail build logs, check code-signing readiness, and diagnose GitHub access issues — using a scoped personal API token you control from your account settings.

Question 7

How do code signing and secrets work?

Accepted Answer

Upload Apple .p12 certificates, provisioning profiles, and Android keystore files in project settings. Secrets are encrypted at rest. Venelx reads hints from eas.json and app.json to help configure bundle IDs and signing for Expo workflows.

Question 8

Does Venelx support OTA updates?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Publish over-the-air updates to channels from your project dashboard, alongside native iOS and Android builds.

Question 9

Is Venelx Workspace available now?

Accepted Answer

Not generally. Workspace is built and passing our tests, but it has not been released: it will be off by default and switched on in stages. CI/CD, signing, store submit, OTA updates, install links and the MCP server are available today. See /workspace for what is built and what is not.

Question 10

Does Venelx Workspace need a cloud?

Accepted Answer

It works with the Venelx cloud, where your worker connects out and nothing is opened to the internet, and there are installer scripts for a standalone Team Server on a Mac mini you own (checked in a dry run so far, not yet on a fresh Mac). Either way, terminals run on your own hardware.

Question 11

Who can open a terminal on my machine?

Accepted Answer

Only people you allow. Terminals are off by default and opt-in per worker, the worker owner has a kill switch, and sessions are audited. Terminals will not run on Venelx-shared cloud workers.

Question 12

Do I need an AI subscription to use Workspace?

Accepted Answer

No. Venelx does not bundle or supply AI. A terminal works with any CLI, and if you want an agent such as Claude Code or Codex you sign in with your own account on your own worker.

Question 13

How do I switch from EAS Build?

Accepted Answer

Connect your GitHub repository and create a project in the Venelx dashboard. Venelx works with standard Expo workflows and eas.json build profiles — configure your pipelines, signing credentials, and environment variables in project settings.

Question 14

Which platforms and frameworks are supported?

Accepted Answer

Venelx is built for Expo and React Native, with native iOS and Android build pipelines. If your project uses standard Expo tooling (eas-cli, prebuild, xcodebuild, Gradle), Venelx can run it.
